Short bio:

Sofia Frohna is a composer, singer-songwriter, and artist based in Brooklyn. In 2022, Sofia released “Amongst Good Company,” a “dark, ethereal folk” EP. She has participated in the LA Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program, the Zodiac Music Festival, Sunset Chamberfest, and the Atlantic Music Festival. Sofia is a serious goofball who is passionate about building community connections and accessing alternate sonic beauty through music. She is further informed by her love of folk music, modern art, mythology, theatre, comedy, carpentry, and calligraphy. In 2021, Sofia scored episode seven of Showtime’s Cinema Toast, “Attack of the Karens.” Sofia scored Caleb Jaffe's pilot "It's Not About Jimmy Keene," which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and Susan Bay-Nimoy's short film "Eve", which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Sofia sings with Amor Artis, and is the host of “New Works, New Drinks,” a salon for contemporary music and craft cocktails.

Sofia Frohna is a composer, singer-songwriter, and artist based in Brooklyn, New York. In 2022, Sofia released “Amongst Good Company,” a “dark, ethereal folk” EP, produced by @madygoesdiving. She has had works premiered by the Momenta Quartet, Duo Soluzar, artists from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the USC Thornton School of Music, the Brown University Chorus, Verdant Vibes ensemble, and more. Sofia has participated as a composer in the LA Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program, the Zodiac Music Academy and Festival, Sunset Chamberfest, and the Atlantic Music Festival. Sofia sings with Amor Artis in New York City, and is the host of “New Works, New Drinks,” a salon for contemporary music and craft cocktails.

Sofia is a serious goofball who is passionate about building community connections and accessing alternate sonic beauty through music. Her project Plastic Orchestra was comprised of building, working with, and composing for an ensemble of all-plastic instruments in service of exploring musical joy, unique listening practices, and timbral experimentation. Sofia’s work is further informed by her love of folk music, modern art, mythology, theatre, comedy, carpentry, and calligraphy.

In addition to her creative endeavors, Sofia has held many artistic leadership positions, including: producer of performing arts at Symphony Space, voice & guitar teacher at the Providence School of Music, leader of the Brown University Folk Festival board, and director, music director, and stage manager for several theatrical productions.

Sofia has studied composition with Dr. Ian Krouse (UCLA), Eric Nathan, Shawn Jaeger, and Kristina Warren (Brown University), and Andrew List (Berklee College of Music). She was a Fellow in the LA Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program for two years under Dr. Sarah Gibson (USC and UCSB). Sofia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Honors from Brown University, and was the recipient of the 2020 Jean and Francis Madeira Music Award, for a senior who is going on in music, by the Brown Club of Rhode Island and the Brown University music department.

In 2021, Sofia scored an episode of Showtime’s “Cinema Toast", working with director Marta Cunningham on “Attack of the Karens.” Sofia also scored Caleb Jaffe's pilot "It's Not About Jimmy Keene," which was selected to premiere in the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in the Indie Episodic Category. Additionally, Sofia wrote music for Susan Bay-Nimoy's short film "Eve", which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
